A Voodoo card is a must, for this system Voodoo Graphics and Voodoo 2 are both good. As said earlier, G suffered at launch from driver problems. I’ve decided to just use the AWE32 by itself to avoid the headache. Hardware MJPEG capturing can be unstable but software compression, using a good video codec, gives much better results anyway. However, contrary to the video mode’s name, G does not support full DVD decoding hardware acceleration. This driver was a precursor to a fully functional OpenGL ICD driver, a quick development to improve performance as fast as possible by offering an interim solution. I know the drive itself works without issue, as it came to me with the owner’s contents completely intact and functional; the one thing about Win9x is that you can pretty much put any HDD into any system and it will find a way matrix function just fine.
