This definitely was the fix for the popping and crackling sounds with Ubuntu We must use access and format to figure it out. This is worthwhile upgrade over motherboard audio and a superb addition to a Linux system. I did not use these. The Xonar DX is essentially playing a bit, 48kHz file. PulseAudio can be forced into a specific bit depth and rate, but it will play all files at the same rate, upsampling or xknar as needed.
